Rush Historical Society invites you to Picnic in Rush’s Pine Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 14 from Noon to 1 PM (rain date: Sun., Oct. 15, noon to 1 PM).
Join Sue Mee, Rush Town Historian & RHS Board Members, for a
Picnic with the Past.
You’ll learn about the Victorian tradition of socializing in cemeteries, learn about symbols on monuments and see how cemeteries work.
Bring your own picnic lunch & chairs/blankets; this is a carry-in/carry-out event.
Visit the Revolutionary War & Civil War sections of Pine Hill.
Feel free to dress in your Victorian best, if you wish, and take lots of photos!
Location and directions Pine Hill Cemetery is located on Rush-Scottsville Road (Route 251) in Rush, New York.
Getting there:
From the North: ---------------------- Take I-390 South toward the New York State Thruway, toward Corning for a distance of approximately 8.5 miles. Exit at Route 15, Exit #11. Turn left onto Route 15, West Henrietta Road. Approximately .3 miles, at the intersection of Routes 251 and Route 15, turn left onto Route 251. Pine Hill Cemetery will be approximately one mile ahead on the left.
From the South: ---------------------- Take I-390 North to Exit #11. Turn right onto Route 251, Rush Scottsville Road. At the intersection of Routes 15 (West Henrietta Road) and Route 251 (Rush Scottsville Road), continue on Route 251. Pine Hill Cemetery will be approximately one mile ahead on the left.
